Fungal burden of disease in Thailand: This data was presented as a poster at ECCMID 2015 conference and has now been published Chayakulkeeree 2017.
How you have helped GAFFI so far: Inspired by GAFFI, we have estimated the burden of invasive fungal diseases in Thailand, presented the data in international meetings and this has now been published Chayakulkeeree 2017.
Personal comment on the major needs in Thailand which GAFFI should be addressing: The number of invasive fungal diseases in Thailand is increasing but it has been under-recognized. We need to estimate the burden of fungal infections and to improve medical care for those suffering from invasive fungal diseases, especially patients with severe immuno-compromised conditions. Development of therapeutic drug monitoring and availability of antifungal agents, as well as investigation of antifungal resistance, are also essential.
