Personal comment on the major needs in Iran which GAFFI should be addressing: Establishment of mycology reference laboratory- one in each province of Iran. In Iran we need to work on periodical population-based surveillance of Invasive opportunistic mycoses including candidiasis, aspergillosis and mucormycosis.
Evaluation of epidemiology of some fungal diseases such as different type of aspergillosis, mucormycosis and cadidiasis in high risk patients. Unavailability of appropriate tests to diagnosis of invasive fungal infections in some centers.
Antifungal drugs for treatment of invasive fungal infections are very expensive
