Dr Tom Chiller

While leading the US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Mycotic Disease Branch, Dr Chiller has been very active in promoting rapid screening for cryptococcal meningitis and disseminated histoplasmosis in people with Advanced HIV Disease. He and his colleagues at CDC have collated US and global data on the multi-resistant fungus Candida auris and more recently have highlighted the growing problem of azole-resistant Aspergillus.

GAFFI’s Senior Advisors provide counsel and networking to the executive team, primarily on technical aspects of fungal disease, but also on health systems, diagnostic and drug access and advocacy issues.

Professor David Denning, Chief Executive of GAFFI, said:

‘We are delighted to welcome Dr Tom Chiller as a Senior Advisor – his expertise and ability to mobilise people and resources to advance the common aims of improved care for those with fungal disease will be greatly valued. He also brings a strong public health focus to GAFFI’s work.’
